C wanted to stop smoking and displayed a strong motivational desire to quit, expressing her great fear of developing lung cancer, not just because it would kill her but because of the slow and painful death lung cancer brings.

Vibrant and ambitious, C had plans for a fulfilling life ahead. Knowing that she needed to stop smoking to make it happen, she was also very conscious about the deep lines and wrinkles which were starting to show on her face, making her look much older than she was.

Having tried to stop smoking lots of times without success, C realised she needed help to quit for good but did not want to use nicotine replacements, or to start vaping instead. After all, the lines around her mouth would continue to worsen whether pursing her lips around a vape or a cigarette.

Although C knew lots of people who had stopped smoking thanks to hypnotherapy, she was unsure about hypnosis and opted for the scientific method of Brain Working Recursive Therapy®, which is based on developments in neuroscience and alters the neural pathways in the brain which lead us to robotically repeat undesired habits.

With absolute certainty that she wanted to be a non-smoker, the session went ahead, focusing on the reasons why C wanted to stop smoking and helping her to envision a wonderful future free from nicotine.

In discussion following the treatment, C enquired whether I could help with something which had been bothering her for a long time. She said it was something she had done, many years ago, which was so bad that she could not bring herself to talk about but was something which continued to torment her.

Reassuring C that she would never have to reveal the details, we worked on her secret there and then. Announcing afterwards that she now believed she had been punished enough for what she did, C shed the veil of guilt that had shrouded her for so long as she left, throwing her final packet of cigarettes in the bin on the way.
