Hypnotherapy in London and Southend-on-Sea, Essex
Claire has been helping people to overcome fears and obstacles, and to become the best possible version of themselves, for over twenty years.
She is a practitioner of a new and powerful model of psychotherapy, BrainWorking Recursive Therapy (BWRT®), one of the only practitioners worldwide trained at advanced level 3 (the psychology of mind and body), and is a founder member of the British BrainWorking Research Society.
Claire trained in advanced hypnosis and psychotherapy with Terence Watts, MCGI, at the Essex Institute for Clinical Hypnosis and is a member of the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council, the College of Medicine, and the Association of Professional Hypnosis & Psychotherapy.
With a degree in Applied Social Science, Claire has a particular interest in identity. An early explorer of cyberspace in the 90’s, she was awarded first class honours for her research into how people interact and represent themselves online. Claire now works regularly with people whose problems relate to their core identity, such as clinical depression and low self-esteem.
“Just to let you know that we had a meeting of the project staff in Essex last week and there was some really great feedback about the work you’ve done with some of our young people. The mentors have reported some huge changes in the young people which is fantastic to hear.“
Teenagers and Young People
Claire’s professional qualifications in working with teenagers and young people were gained whilst building a solid reputation in the youth criminal justice system, where she used to train and mentor teams of specialists helping young people to achieve their full potential.
Although Claire works with people of all ages, as a qualified, experienced youth worker she specialises in helping young people and is an approved therapist with the Prince’s Trust and the YMCA. Find out more here:

This is what some recent clients have to say:
“Claire, just had to tell you now I’m home, today was by far the biggest thing I’ve ever accomplished in my life. I keep smiling to myself. I actually couldn’t be any prouder of ME! Three years ago being able to drive was beyond my wildest dreams so to get to today’s moment is amazing. Meeting you was lovely too.”TC
“For as long as I can remember I have suffered from anger issues. My over the top reactions to situations that others take in their stride have caused issues with friends and family and ended more than one relationship. Having tried various solutions over the years such as anti-anxiety and depression medication as well as cognitive therapy it was with some scepticism that I undertook a BWRT session with Claire.
I can honestly say that I have been stunned by the results. I am a lot calmer in scenarios that would previously have seen the red mist descend and am better able to cope without resorting to rage. I have no idea how it works but it does!”ID
“When I was told about Advanced Level BWRT I was excited and nervous to try it out, I approached Claire to help me with my self belief and self confidence. When she told me she could help I got excited and booked up immediately, I didn’t know what to expect from the sessions and found them a mixture of excitement and nervousness. As the sessions progressed I could feel and see changes happening, I had other people commenting that I was acting differently and most of all I was doing things I wouldn’t have done before. Now that it has come to an end I can say that I feel that I am a completely different person in a very good way. I would highly recommend this therapy to anyone that is thinking of seeking help.”JB
“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Claire Gaskin for the help I received whist attending therapy. I had previously attended therapy at a few places, but was always left with a feeling of unfinished business. I am glad to say that this wasn’t the case with Claire. The BWRT structure and Claire’s professionalism put me at ease and will be remembered by myself for many years. If I’m honest, I was not in a good place prior to this therapy, the future wasn’t something I looked forward to or indeed expected. But with Claire’s understanding and guidance I feel that I do have a future and I can make a difference.BWRT has changed my life.”RE
“Having been in the same job for 13 years I was becoming very bored of the same routine day in day out, it was then without realising I started to go to the vending machine at work buying pasties and sausage rolls to eat at my desk to try and eleviate [sic] the boredom. This soon became a very bad habit spending £2 – £4 per day on junk food when I was on shift, perhaps not a massive amount of money but when you have a young family with 3 children you would grab someone’s hand if they offered you an extra £50 or so each month !
It was through a friend that BWRT therapy was introduced to me. I was a little sceptical at first but what an AMAZING therapy BWRT is !!! During the therapy I had to replace my thoughts and feelings of binge eating on the sausage rolls and pasties with my preferred and positive outcome. I chose that each time I felt the urge to go to the vending machine I would choose to have a glass of water instead and it has worked ! It has been approximately 5 months since my visit to see Claire and I can honestly say I have NOT bought or had the urge to eat a sausage roll or pasty from a vending machine OR shop since my visit.
Thank you Claire!!!”GD
“When I initially attended sessions with Claire l was struggling with my self-esteem and willpower to succeed in certain areas of my life. Claire was very friendly, understanding and professional in her approach to help me, and made me feel at ease straight away. During my therapy other issues came up and together we successfully resolved them.
Now my sessions are complete and I have a more positive and confident outlook on life and, with the techniques I have learnt, I feel happy that I have the knowledge to tackle any difficulty that comes my way.
I would happily recommend Claire to my friends and family and revisit her myself if I felt the need. I have nothing but praise for Claire and her abilities.”LK
“Claire very skilfully helped me to identify and express my issues with public performance and also to recognise some self-defeating habits and attitudes which were unconsciously holding me back. A single 90 minute session has given me a very different perspective and enabled me to enjoy performing again, I feel positive and re-energised. I am extremely grateful.”JG
